005 [Situation] 12 Chains SW [South West] of the village of Linlithgow Bridge.
A very fine structure Supporting the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway across a Valley & through which the River Avon flows, it is a short distance South of Linlithgow Bridge and Consists of 23 lofty Arches, twenty of them having a span of about 50 feet and the other three at the E. [East] end being Only 24 feet wide, the height of the rails Over the bed of the River is about 100 feet. Six of the Arches including the three Small Are On the Linlithgow Side of the River, three of them across the River Avon and the Remaining 14 are on the Stirlingshire Side, it is built of a hard Whitish Sandstone.
