[Situation] On the west side of the Water of Leith adjoining the Old Queensferry Road. This name applies to 2 flour mills with granaries &c. attached and several small cottages adjacent the latter occupied chiefly by labourers besides a good house or cottage occupied by the proprietor John Sawers. The whole forming a sort of hamlet or small village. The mills are worked by two water wheels which are turned by water from the Water of Leith. At this place is a bridge over the Water of Leith which is usually called Bells Mills Bridge. |
