BELL'S MILLS	Bell's Mills Bell's Mills Bell's Mills Bell's Mills	Andrew Thomson George Suttie Kirkwood's map Directory 1851		[Situation] On the west side of the Water of Leith adjoining the Old Queensferry Road. This name applies to 2 flour mills with granaries &c. attached and several small cottages adjacent the latter occupied chiefly by labourers besides a good house or cottage occupied by the proprietor John Sawers. The whole forming a sort of hamlet or small village. The mills are worked by two water wheels which are turned by water from the Water of Leith. At this place is a bridge over the Water of Leith which is usually called Bells Mills Bridge.
THE CAULDRON	The Cauldron The Cauldron	Andrew Thomson George Suttie		[Situation] In the Water of Leith about 5 chains SW. [South West] John Watson's Institution. This name is applied very generally to the milldam or pool which supplies Bell's Mills with water and which is raised by means of a dam or weir across the Water of Leith at this place.
