The name Chapel field or flat is from time immemorial, which would lead to the Conclusion that a Chapel or some other place of Religious worship was erected in or about the field in question. The Steward of Glassmount States that he saw some Tombstones which were found on or about the place marked on trace the inscriptions of which were totally defaced. History is in a great measure Silent regarding this Chapel or place of worship but tradition keeps the Site in existence and well known in the Surrounding Neighbourhood
Mr Robertson poor law inspector & Brewer Kinghorn has devoted a good deal of attention to the Antiquities of the parish of Kinghorn he states that it is probable that the Chapel referred to was an appendage of Pittadie but he was always of opinion that the Chapel was nearer the east end of the field or flat The Steward of Glassmount who is an old man & resided all his days in the neighbourhood is positive from his own knowledge & what has been told him by his father the place marked on trace represents the Correct position of the Chapel
"A chapel had been formerly in existence
in connection with this land (Glassmount) a
field to the east of the house still bears the
name of Chapel-field, and it is not long since
Some of the ruins of the building were
to be seen" New Stat Acct. [Statistical Account].
