"In the middle of a field belonging to the
farm of Tyrie, there stands an
old ruin, the gable of a building
of no great extent, but which from
its name & human bones found
around it, was most likely a Chapel
or place of public worship. The
people call it Egsmalee an evident corruption
of Eglise Marie".

In page 810 vol [volume] 9 New Stat [Statistical] Account it is stated in reference to North Glassmount Ho [House] A field to the east of the house still bears the name of the Chapel-field and, it is not long since some of the ruins of the building were to be seen.
The Occupier & inhabitants in the immediate neighbourhood Call the field referred to above the Chapel Flat.
