Half Morton [Continued] All the hills are of very moderate height. The principal Streams are the River Sark which forms for the most part the En. [Eastern] boundary, Black Sark Water which partly traces the Wn. [Western] and SWn. [South Western] boundaries and Cadgill Burn from the northern district SE [South East] to River Sark - the interior being well watered by Springs and rills. Two Turnpike roads from the Sn [Southern] extremity running North diverge respectively South and North and East and West and another line runs from West to East across the Nn [Northern] district. There are no manufactories carried on nor minerals wrought. There is nothing in the district deserving the name of village or town. There is a Quoad Sacra Church centrally Situated also a Parish School. The principal proprietor is Sir John Herron Maxwell of Springkell. Population about 700.
