Many of the most distinguished personages including Kings, Queens and the highest nobles visited Whithorn & paid homage to the memory of this remarkable Saint, in 1473 Margaret Queen of James 3rd made a pilgrimage here & James 4th & his Queen during his reign made several pilgrimages to the Sepulchre of the Holy St Ninian. in 1513 the old Earl of Angus (Bell-the-Cat) made a pilgrimage to the reputed relics of Whithorn engaging before he set out to reform all disorders on his way .
