016 A Well Constructed Pier or Harbour extending about 200 yards North into Loch Ryan Built between they years 1818& 1821. By Private Subscription & A Small grant from the government The Tides ar composed of Squer blocKs of free Stone, The Average hight above the low water is about 15 feet the top or Surfice is Macadamized & about 30 feet wide On the West Side there is A row of Chain posts As A protraction against Accidences. The dues lvied on Vessels here is according to the Value of the Cargoes. At from 2d to 3d per Ton. The imports ar chiefly merchant Goods Coals Lime Free Stone & guano. Exports farm produce, Vessels from 8 to 80 Tons Burthen can unload here According to the State of the tides. At from 8 to 18 feet of water. There ar two regular Steamers arives here daily (viz) One from Glasgo & one from Ayr. The Glasgo Steamer Sails ocasionaly to Belfast Near the North East end of the Pier. There is a Wooden Structure Called the Steam Boat Wharf. Mearly for the accommodation of the Steam Boats. & Built by the Steam Boat Company The dues collected at the Quay in 1846 was £160 It is -- Let this year at £140.The Quay is the Property of Borough of Stranraer & onder the Protaction of the Town Council. It is on the Estate of Sheuchan - The property of Vane Agnew of Sheuchan & Barnbarroch-
