005 | [situation] 21 Chains WNW [West North West] of Easter Carribber The crumbling walls of the Old Castle stands on a high and very precipitous wooded bank on the south side of the River Avon and a ΒΌ mile W.N.W. [West North West] of Easter Carribber. It is square in form, but could not have been of any great strength as the walls are not more than 2 feet thick, the walls as they now stand are six or seven feet high on the S.E. & W [South East & West] without openings except a door in the W. [West] wall - the North wall is considerably higher and retain two apertures like windows but much dilapidated.
