005 | [Situation] Near the central portion of the Ph. [Parish] of Linlithgow A commodious farm house, two storeys high, with suitable offices and thrashing mill all in good repair, there is a garden and large arable farm attached contiguous to the farmstead is a smithy, and wheelwright's shop, and a sawmill propelled by water, together with a few cottages one storey high, with small vegetable gardens attached; about 40 years ago there used to be an extensive village here, but all the houses with the exception of these enumerated were pulled down; and these still remaining with the farm house are known as Riccarton, the whole being the property of the Earl of Selkirk and tenanted by Mr John Wilson |
