[East] of the Parish Manse, they are one storey high & partly slated and thatched and chiefly in good repair - the property of Mr. T. Johnston Petershill - Mr. J. Johnston Banker supposes, from the name (Hall of Bathgate) that an ancient Hall stood here, some way Connected with Bathgate Castle & that the supposed Ancient Causeway led from the Hall to the Mews and stables as its direction as shown on the trace would indicate, but there is no account of it either historical or traditional. |
