A plain stone building in the form of three fourths of a Cross, and erected in 1739 - there is a small belfry on the West end - it has a gallery in each wing and is lighted by small oblong windows which gives the interior rather a dark gloomy appearance Contains sittings - free - for 800 and the average attendance is about 500 - The Earl of Hopetoun is the Patron of the living and the present incumbent is the Revd. [Reverend] J. Byers - there is a large Grave Yard on the S. [South] Side it is situated near the N. W. [North West] end of Jarvey Street, with an entrance also from Gideon Street. |
