108 This name applies to a Small Culitvated district Situated [about] 2 Miles West of BonarBridge on both Sides of the Road leading from BonarBridge to Lairg. It is the property of Sidney Hadwin Esqr of Balblair & Kildonan,
QUERN FOUND HERE A.D. 1868 [Maikle] Quern found here A.D. 1868. 108 In a field on a rising part of this district, there was found in the Year 1868, while ploughing, a Quern, which consists of a large Stone flag, with a hole about 1 1/2 Inches in [diameter] in its Centre, and 3 other holes near the Margins large Enough to admit the finger.
CAIRN [E of Maikle] Cairn 108 There is a large "Cairn" near a few houses on the East Margin of this district, the Revd [Reverend] Mr Joass Kindly Supplied the following information. Viz.
"In a short Cist under a Cairn [here] (MaiKle distict & under the above cairn) "Were found about 20 Years ago. An Urn and a Small bronzed blade, double Edged and very sharp, This has been pronounced by a Com: [Commission] of the Antiq: Socy [Antiquity Society] of Scotland to be a Pictish Razor" these objects are preserved in Dunrobin Museum.
