Gazeteer of Scotland 1842		 This Canal extends from Port Hopetoun at Edinburgh, to Port Doune on the Forth & Clyde Canal, and by means of the latter navigation connecting Glasgow & Edinburgh. It passes westward through parts of the Co.s [Counties] of Edinburgh, Linlithgow and Stirling, its whole length is about 30½ miles.
