There is said to be a large stone under one of these Cairns (the most westerly) with a round hole in it, out of which the old men used to drink whisky at particular seasons of the year. These Cairns are greatly diminished in size since a portion of road was made part where they stood the stones having been taken away to repair road with. The superstitions alluded to in the foregoing are fast dying out. None but the very oldest of the inhabitants have much faith in them at the present day |
