007.03 | These Consist of large piles of stones of various sizes & weight, thrown loosely together without regard to structure or formation and are Called by the inhabitants of the surrounding district "Awmoses" or "Alms Cairns". It is very difficult to get any reliable information regarding their meaning or origin. The inhabitants say it was they school children who erected them day by day as the happenned to escape a flogging at School. This statement is at least doubtful, as some of the stones in these Cairns are of such dimensions that even the united efforts of a number of school children would be unable to remove them.
