004.13 | The site of an old Chapl [Chapel], Situated in a plantation, about 1/2 half a mile west of "Torwoodlee", it is supposed to have been a Chael of Ease to Melrose, and to have been dismantled about the time that the Abbey was destroyed, the walls were completely taken away, to build dikes and also to erect the "Aisle" of Torwoodlee Burying Ground (It is still used....sepulture [sepulchre]), which is situated beside it the Site where the Chapel stood is quite visable - the foundations not having been taken up. |
