008.06 | A small stream rising in the Moor near Th Eildon Hills, and flowing in an Easterly direction, empties itself into the River Tweed, between Ravenswood, and Old Melrose. This stream is said to have been a favorite resort of the fairies, (hence the name) Bogle a Fairy, particularly where the stream Crosses the road from Melrose to St. Boswell's, which is a very secluded spot, here their nightly revels were Kept, and at times it is stated, that foot passengers were forced to Remain till these small gentry permitted them to pass, much to the inconvenience of the wayfarer. |
