007.04 Two old 'peel houses' in the middle of Darnick, said to have been erected in the 16th Century by families of 'de Heiton and Fischer'.
The North one - that of 'Heiton's - is the most perfect, having a tower crowned by a look out, four stories in height, and above the rest of the building, which has been adapted to our modern requirements, Above the door of the tower is the date 1569. and I.H.S, J. Heiton Esq: proprietor -
'Fischers tower' - as it was called, is a few yards South of the above, and is a plain square building, having nothing of the fortalice in its appearance being a two storied modern looking dwelling
Excepting the walls which are nearly four feet thick - Occupied by its proprietor A Lassie
