014.03 The Remains of a great military road made by the Roman people, it is now planted with mixed wood. and Situated N.E. [North East] of the boundary between the parishes of Ancrum and Maxton. This Road extended from Yorkshire to the Firth of Forth, and till recently was used as a drove road for Cattle into England.
