009.08 A large Mill for the grinding of Wheat Oats Barley peas and Beans. It originally belonged to the abbey but is now held by the duke of Roxburgh. Mr. Crossby Occupier. Some few years ago there was a law suit about the Mill and the Anna, opposite, in the river. The result was some trifling advantage to the Town and the withdrawal of a prohibitory claim to Anna. Perhaps Kelso Mill ought to be written in German text if a mill has existed on the same spot for many centuries, though often rebuilt. (See The Malt barns )
