009.04 | [Continued from page 7] A new Corn exchange was erected about 2 years ago; it is a large plain building fitted up with stalls around the walls, each stall being numbered, & having the name of the occupier painted on a small bord immediately above. It is now used by the farmers & merchants for the transaction of business, as business of this sort was formerly carried on in the open Square. It has a small Galary at the North end intended for an Orchestra and the building is now very generally used for Concerts, Popular & scientific Lectures etc. [Continued on page 8] |
