Tradition has it that a person named McLaren was killed in the year 1657 by a Shepherd with a pair of Sheep Shears, and buried at this place abou the Same period i.e. 1657 a Stone, in the [shape] of a cross, & about four feet in height, was erected to mark the spot - the Stone is still Standing on the Same Spot
