Its form is cylindrical, And Stands on An Ample base, And is about 150 feet high having in the interior a Spiral Staircase, It is very Substantially built from whinstone Quarried on the Spot, On the base is the following inscription Viz - "To the Duke of Wellington And the British Army - William Kerr - VI [6] Marquis of Lothian, And his Tenantry Dedicate this monument 30th June 1815" |
