Ordnance Survey Office
3rd June 1872

Sir,
From information supplied
to me by one of my Surveyors a doubt
arises respecting the former Church of
the ancient parish of Kirkmichael.
Will you therefore have the goodness
to inform me if the present Ruin (part
of which now forms the burying place of
the Poyntzfield family) is the remains
of the ancient Roman Catholic Chapel
which was dedicated to St. Michael and
formed the Parish Church of Kirkmichael
and in which an Episcopalian Minister
is said to have Officiated for some time
previous to becoming a Presbyterian
Church; or, was there a new church
erected on the Site of the old Roman
Catholic

Sir,
I am sorry that I
am not able to give the
required information.
The present Ruin is
the site of the Parish
Church of Kirkichael,
but cannot say whether
it has been rebuilt since
becoming a Presbyterian
Church.
