028 | In Feby [February] 1866. W. S. Duff Esqr. Edderton Ho [House] discovered an urn in a small cist on the southward slope of a Knoll named Torran dubh on south side of public road about 5th Milestone from Tain. 12 feet north on the top of the Torran dubh another Cist was found 3 feet under the surface and covered with two large sandstone slabs one over the other. The Cist was 4 ft 6 inches long, 33 in. wide at one end and 18 in. at the other and 12 Inches? deep. It was filled with gravel and sand in which were found bits of burnt bone, human teeth and part of a bronze pin. 12 ft west from this in a small cist near the surface another urn was found ornamented on lip and shoulder with chevron pattern. This urn is now at Balnagowan. A sandstone slab 2 in. thick and 1 ft. square lay near. on one side of it a cup had been picked out 1/2 in. deep and 1 1/2 in. diameter Description by Revd.
