090 This name applies to a large peninsula lying between the Moray Firth and Cromarty Firth It comprises eight parishes which are distributed among the Counties of Cromarty, Ross, & Nairn (Detached) It consists for the most part of a series of sandstone ridges, and has, from almost end to end, a broad backed hilly summit. It lay, till recently in a dismaly bleak & moorish condition; but is now extensively cultivated & well intersected by roads. The whole of this Ph. [Parosh] is in the district "Black Isle"
