[notes] Stanley Church - Revd [Reverend] J. Baxters replies at the end of N. [Name] Book.
Stanley Church is private property and seems to be merely licensed for the performance of Divine Worship by the Presbytery of Perth. It is therefore neither a Quoad Sacra Church or a Chapel of Ease.
"Almost the only building worthy of notice in the parish is the Chapel of Ease,
now joined into the Ecclesiastical Church of Stanley. It is a very handsome structure, with
a tower 85 feet high on the northern end, and was erected at the expense of £3,000, laid
out solely by Denniston, Buchanan and Company, for the benefit of their work people
employed at their extensive cotton mills at Stanley. Being situated at the top of a bank,
of considerable elevation above the river, it forms an object of interest and ornament for
a great district of country around it"
