James McKercher Schoolmaster John Ritchie Henry Birrell |
087 | This object Occupies a Conspicuous Situation on the summit of a steep Bank overlooking the Castle of Evelick. The Remains are in good Preservation; it was strongly defended on the N. [North] West side, the other sides being very steep required no artificial defences. It is not Known by what people it was Constructed but the probability is that it is one of those British Hill Forts so numerous throughout the Country. |
