123 A small hill on the farm of Bochastle, the property of the Earl of Murray, immediately at the S. [South] west end of this hill is a very large unshapely block of stone which is undermined on all sides except at a point about its centre where it rests on a solid rock. There are no tradition concerning it farther than that foolish one of Samson having thrown it from Dunmore. It much resembles the Rocking stones found in Kirkcudbrightshire.
