018 [Situation] On the left bank of the Quair about ¼ a Mile west from Traquair Church.
A small cottage & garden occupied by one of the labourers on the farm of Orchard Mains. The place is chiefly notable from its indicating the probable limit on the south side of what was formerly a Royal Orchard. This Orchard is referred to in Chalmers Caledonia & is somewhat indefinitely indicated in Pouts Map 1608. -
