A Parish in the County of Peebles bounded on the North by Stobo & Peebles, on the by Peebles & Selkirkshire, on the South by Megget and on the West by Drummulzier and Stobo - Its greatest breadth, from the Tweed ¾ of a Mile above the Lyne water on the North to the highest Source of Manor water on the South is 8¾ Miles - its breadth from 1 mile to 5¾ Miles, And its Superficial Area is estimated at about 18,110 Scotch Acres -
The Tweed forms the boundary for 3½ miles on the North & North West - The Manor Water. rises Near the Southern boundary and persuing a Northerly Course, traverses the Parish for 6½ miles nearly along the Middle and then runs windingly 2¾ Miles near or along the eastern boundery until it joins the Tweed, Numerous other tributaries of the Tweed have there rise in this Parish, about one Eighth is under Cultivation, the remainder is sheep pasturage, the hills rise to a Considerable elevation and are well Stocked with game - There are two Very ancient and Remarkable Camps in the Parish, one on the farm of Cademuir and the other on Chester's Hill, beside these forts [Continued on page 4]
