001.16 This name is applied to a small village situated upon the County road leading from Burghead to Hopeman and about one and one half miles distant from the former. the buildings are situated upon both sides of the County road chiefly one story high, the greater part of which are thatched, the whole are in fair repair. there is no building of any note in the village a female School attended by a few childred being the only place worthy of mention Sir William Cumming Altyre propr. [proprietor]
