001.16 | Applied to a Well situated about one half mile to the East of Burghead It is supposed to have derived its name from Ethernon a Bishop and Confessor who laboured in the north of Scotland towards the close of the Sixth Century. the name having become Corrupted This well had the propertys of healing, long ascribed to it by the inhabitants and it is extensively used at present being the only real fresh water in the neighbourhood the other wells being Brackish.
