A handsome Mansion a short distance South of "Newbigging" it is in the Elizabethan style of architecture & is encompassed by a stone wall which bounds a neatly laid out demesne. The date 1603 is engraved on stone above the front door.- it is the property of H. Colt Esq. | |

A rectangular stone building with porches at the east and west ends, and an attached Vestry on the south side it is surmounted by a high Spire & stands upon the summit of a hill S. [South] West of Musselburgh, supposed to be the hill upon which the Roman Praetorum stood when that people held Inveresk. This Church stands upon the site of the very ancient Chapel of St Michael & contains sittings for 1000 people. The oldest tombstone in the grave Yard dates from 1609 |
