A retired lane leading from the west end of Market Street in Fisherrow, towards the country & past "Campie House" from which it takes its name. There are 2 or 3 detached dwellings in it.

A tolerably handsome mansion, 2 storeys high with garden & small demesne attached, it is situated in the southern suburb of Fisherrow, & is entered from "Campie Lane".
MARKET STREET [Musselburgh] A street in Fisherrow leading from the ancient Bridge which crosses the Esk (at the Railway Station) in a westerly direction until it joins Campie Lane, it is paved & lined at each side by buildings most of which are very neat, but some present a rather dingy aspect. They are occupied respectively by shopkeepers, artisans and Labourers The remains of an ancient chapel is said to be in this street. I have made the strictest enquiries concerning this object but has failed to get it pointed out J.M
