[Situation] North of the London Road, about eight chains west of Piershill Barracks This name applies to several large buildings used as worKshops carriage depot & other uses by the North British Railway near Meadow BanK, having extensive works for the Manufacture and repair of Railway Carriages, Locomotive Engines &c. It is also used as a depot for Carriages, Trucks, and Engines. Adjoining this Station is a small Gas WorK Which supplies this Establishment, and the Railway Station at Edinburgh with Gas. Proprietors, The N.B. [North British] Railway Company (About 400 men are constantly employed in these works) although not used (in the common acceptation of the term) as a Railway Station yet still the name St Margarets is well established. It was formerly inted to be a station for Jocks Lodge & neighbourhood. |
