[Situation] West side of Leith Wynd A portion of this Wall is still standing on the west side of Leith Wynd built of boulders and coarse [Mortar] it is about 4ft. [feet] in thickness at the base - 15 or 16 ft. [feet] in height and in a good state of preservation. regarding the date that this wall was erected for the defence of the City no Records are now to be found or authentic in formation obtained, it joined the Netherbow contiguous to the house near the South west of Leith Wynd And extended northerly to Trinity Hospital from thence in a westerly directionto the Northloch. - Abridged Ext: [Extract] from Maitlands History of Edinburgh Book II.
