027.06 | This building prior to being transformed into a church was a burying asile which was erected in A.D. 1567; the additional parts were erected in 1789 which is the present erection. It is situated on the north west side of the parish and is seated for 170 persons. It is apparently in good condition and belongs to the Established body. The minister's salary is made up of the following; 13 bolls, 2 firlets 3 pecths 1 1/3 lippeys oatmeal and 3 bolls of bear; the foregoing is valued at the feur prices and for which he receives cash . Likewise he receives £60-2-7 1/2 which is payable by Sir Norman Lochart, Baronet of Lee & Carnwath, together with £83-11-1 1/2 which is annually paid by the Exchequer. The total of the above amounts to £158-6-8. Information from the Statistical Account. The minister has eight to twelve days casting peats on the Borland Moss and 41 days casting turf from on the Borland Moor which servitors have not been allowed to go into desuetude. |
