027.07 | This well is sees from a cave at the base of "Blackmount" and falls into "Winter Burn"; the opening from which it flows is about 3 feet high by 2 feet wide its length is incomprehensible and the average depth will be about 3 ft.[feet]. It has been formerly known to be in great repute for cutaneous diseases owing to the immense strength of its medicinal virtues and the purity of its water. It is totally impregnated with porphyritic felspar in which there is ironstone ore embedded. |
