024.10 This now comprises a farm steading, and an old mansion house, the latter belonging to a Mr Gibson, and the former to the Revd. Dr. Hamilton, London. By people in the neighbourhood it is sometimes called the East Town of Spittal, but no proper, authentic, information can substantiate such a name. In all documents - lawful and parochial, it is given only as "Spittal".
The old mansion house, from a date bon the front of it, was built in 1763.
There is a public right of way through the Lands of Spittal, leading to the farm of Flutterdab in Lesmahagow Parish.
