024.06 A farm steading adjoining "East Watstone", both the property of his grace the Duke Of Hamilton, and distinguished by the terms east and west in all writings of the Dukes. There are various modes used for the spelling of this name. The carts giving it as "Watstown" and some good authorities for Watston. That given in the rent roll is the only mode used in the Duke Of Hamilton's Office. The origin of this name could not be discovered.
