007.13 | A village chiefly occupied by colliers employed in the pits etc. in the neighbourhood. There is a Free church at the east end. Formerly, there was a Relief Church; it was taken down about 130 years ago. This name may be said to have been taken from a farm steading which stands in the parish west of the village. It is still a farm, but the name applies, now, to the village more than it. All the property of A. Buchanan Esqr. |
