Street have a tasteful and
rich appearance. the town is
lighted with gas prepared at
a work erected in 1832 at a
place called Steels Cross in
the Western outskirts. It is also
well supplied with water. and
altogether it is a pleasant quite
healthful rural town and attracts
many tourists from its proximity

is handloom weaving - Weekly markets are held on Tuesday
and Saturday and there are 7 annual fairs XX Lanark

and Linlithgow in returning a member
