017.04 "Among the antiquities of this place may be recorded the gardens of Barncluith, or Barn's Cleuch. There are here three dwelling houses and three gardens. These gardens & buildings were probably constructed by John Hamilton of "Barncluith", Commissary of Hamilton & Kampsie, about 1583." New Statistical Account.

The dwelling house adjoining one of the terraced walls has 1633 cut upon the South west side. It is three stories high. The other buildings are thatched roofed.
PEDESTAL [Barncluith] 017.04 At the place written "Pedestal", is a Stone pedestal or pillar, having several dwarf figures on the top, cut out of the stone. The height of it is between 4 & [5] feet & the figures on the top are not above 6 inches high. There is cut on one side of this pedestal the figures 1407, in good preservation & altogether of the style of figures of the present day. What these figures refer to is not known.
If the Pedestal be of the date the figures would imply, the style of the figures are certainly of a more modern date. over
