018.15 The burn which flows through this gill, or glen, rises near "Ashgillhead", - Trace 4, and is called or named from the gill, which is evidently the object the name belongs to originally. It is generally known throught the parish as it is applied on E4 mn : Trace - to the ravine on each side of the Glasgow and Lanark road. It has been observed in obtaining this name from the authorities quoted, and many others too numerous to mention, that the "Stewart Gill Burn" as on property.
