There is a pontage, changed to all passengers - horse and Foot, crossing the bridge, and the tolls are levied at the "Toll House", on the dalserf side. Several persons possess shares in this bridge, they are either the original contributors decendants or recent purchassers. It cannot be considered a council bridge, as the turnpike trust have no control over it; nor should the "Toll House" be considered in the same light as an ordinary turnpike gate house. The bridge is named from a property in camnethan belonging to Lord Bellhaven. The gate is on the dalserf side of the bridge - it is about 20ft high, and of iron.
