033 The site of an ancient castle on the farm of Auchenfranco, it is enclosed by a fosse or trench in the form of a Rhombus, and at the Eastern corner of which is an opening where it is supposed that a draw bridge had been. No remains of the Castle or building now stands, but the present farmer of Auchenfranco says that about 25 years ago small portions of the walls were standing which he and his workmen removed for the purpose of building some offices, fences, &c. Its present appearance would indicate that it has at [one] time been a place of great strength.
