A Small Village on the road leading from New Galloway to Ayr and about 12 miles from the former its houses are one story high slated and in good repair, principally inhabited by Agricultural Labourers with a few Mechanics. It has the Ph.[Parish] Church & School, 2 Inns 5 Small Shops, and a post office, population about 100. formerly a coach ran through village from Ayr to Dumfries, but is now discontinued. -
