[North by West] of Carsphairn village A Spring well on the farm of Lagwine and situated about 5 chains North of Bridge-end, it was formerly famed for its Medicinal qualities, but in consequence of neglect or carelesness of the people of its locality it is now entirely filled up with all sorts of filth &c. It was in this well where the celebrated Mr Dodd threw his dies for Coining when pursued by the Officers of the Crown. - |
